frequently asked questions

When you invite someone into your home, you want to feel comfortable and safe with that person. Because we will be interacting in your personal space, I want to make sure you have answers to all your questions before I arrive. Please contact me if you have questions not answered here.

  • What areas do you serve?
BODY Mobile massage therapy is provided in Carson City, Mound House, Dayton, Stagecoach and Silver Springs. I can meet at your home, office, or any place you have a private space -- 10ft x 7ft or larger is preferred! See the Service Territory Map at the bottom of this page. BREATH I am VIRTUAL from anywhere for breathwork sessions. If you would like an IN-PERSON corporate, small group or individual session in Northern Nevada, please reach out with your location and details.
  • Do you have a physical space I can come for my session?
I am 100% mobile and virtual with no current studio. If you do not have space in your home, ask a friend or colleague if they want to do back-to-back (body) or a group (breath) session at their place!
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Life happens so if you need to cancel, I ask that you do so 24+ hours in advance so I may try to fill that time slot. If less than 24 hours, I charge a 50% cancellation fee. If you are a "no show" for mobile or virtual, you will be charged 100% of the service fee. I require a credit card to book a session but you may use another form of payment upon session completion. If you have a gift certificate or package, the service price will be deducted from your balance. However, please contact me for urgent matters or unexpected illness - if you feel sick or people in your space are sick, please reschedule.
  • Do you follow HIPAA guidelines?
Yes, however virtual sessions are conducted on Microsoft Teams, which has its own privacy policy. You will be asked to sign the body+breath privacy policy upon scheduling your first appointment.
  • Do you accept insurance?
At this time, I do not accept insurance payments but can accept FSA/HSA cards and provide Superbills.
  • Is your 90-minute massage actually 80 minutes of hands-on work?
Never! You can rest assured that if you paid for a 90-minute massage, you are going to get 90+ minutes of hands on treatment.
  • What will my massage session be like?
I do my best to arrive 15 minutes BEFORE your session start time to setup my table and supplies then discuss any concerns and confirm a treatment plan. I will check in about pressure and pain points, but please be vocal with any adjustments you need to ensure your comfort and safety. After your session, it takes about 15 minutes to gather my supplies and complete your payment. I am happy to schedule your next session or answer questions before leaving! **If possible, please limit distractions - phones, kids, pets, work - BUT I am absolutely ok with your family and animals being around. Know that any stop to your session due to distraction is treatment time lost.
  • Do I need to provide anything for my massage session?
I will provide all necessary supplies. On your intake form, please let me know if you have any of the following: specific parking, stairs, an elevator, restricted access or animals/kids.
  • Can a massage package be shared by multiple people?
At this time, packages can only be shared by people in the same household. Please contact with questions.
  • What type of lotion or oils do you use for massage?
I use a pure jojoba oil along with Bon Vital Naturale or Original lotion. I do also use a lavender spray. If you have specific allergies, please connect with me prior to your session.
  • Contraindications for massage
Massage should be avoided completely for the following: Active infection Fever Open wounds or skin conditions Recent surgery (within 3 months, unless approved) Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) Fractures (until healed) Uncontrolled seizures Severe Osteoporosis On your intake form, please identify if you have the following: Pregnancy Heart conditions History of stroke Varicose veins Current bruises, sprains or soft tissue injuries Blood disorders Blood thinners, other medications
  • Why do I need to learn how to breathe?
We are taught to eat, walk, talk ... but because breathing is automatic, we forget (or don't realize) we have control over our breath. Plus, so many illnesses and disorders can be linked to poor breathing habits. Our breathing is directly linked to our mental and emotional states (e.g. if you're anxious, stressed or angry, you probably breathe harder, faster and/or more shallow). Once you learn how to breathe for optimal function, you will not only feel better, you will be more connected with and in control of your mind and body.
  • What will my breath coaching session be like?
During your initial assessment, I will have you perform several "tests" so that we can find your baseline and create a plan based on current abilities and desired goals. Please make sure your intake form identifies any known conditions or current pregnancy as these may influence our sessions. Dress comfortably so your body isn't restricted, think yoga or gym attire. It's also good to have a pillow, water bottle and blanket if you tend to get cold. And yes, you will have "homework" between sessions, but typical practice time is 30 minutes spread throughout your day. Virtual Sessions: I recommend being in a private, quiet room with a laptop/desktop. I use Microsoft Teams - you do not need to download the application on your computer, just use the link I provide. I need to see from your waistline up and you'll need the ability to turn around and to the side. I strongly urge you not to use your mobile phone for our virtual session - you will have to download the app and I won't be able to see you clearly (among other issues). If you must use your phone, please shoot me an email or text in advance to let me know. For initial breathwork assessments, time will be 75-90 minutes. For follow-up private coaching sessions, time will be 45-60 minutes.
  • Do I need to provide anything for my breath session?
In-Person: If you have a yoga block, bolster/pillows, exercise band or yoga strap, definitely have them within reach. You may also want to have a blanket or jacket and water bottle nearby in case you get cold or thirsty. Virtual: Same as above but also a quiet environment and the ability to show me your entire torso on the screen.
  • When will I start seeing results in my breathing habits?
Every person is different. It depends on the results you want to see and how consistent you are with your practice. I have had clients get instant gratification and others had to make adjustments before results came. When it comes to overall health, wellbeing and sleep, you can start to feel the effects of proper breathing within a few days to weeks.
  • Contraindications for breathwork
If you are experiencing any of the following, please confer with your medical provider before starting breath coaching sessions. Some techniques (eg. breath holds, hypoventilation, hyperventilation) are not indicated for conditions such as: cardiovascular disease detached retina, glaucoma diagnosed aneurysm epilepsy uncontrolled diabetes Please indicate on your intake form if you have hypertension, respiratory conditions, sleep apnea, heart/kidney disease, cancer, thyroid conditions, migraines, anxiety, panic attacks, schizophrenia or other serious medical conditions. PREGNANCY: refrain from practicing strong breathwork, hyperventilation and breath holds. We can work on functional and relaxation techniques only.
